Methodology
How we calculate our metrics
All metrics are derived from publicly available SEC filings. Below is a plain-language explanation of each.
Assets Under Management (AUM)
AUM is calculated as the sum of the reported market value of all equity positions in a 13F filing. Values are as of the last day of the reporting quarter.
AUM Change
Quarter-over-quarter change in total reported AUM. Reflects both price appreciation and changes in position sizes.
Turnover
Percentage of the portfolio that was replaced during the quarter. Calculated as the lesser of purchases or sales divided by average AUM.
New & Exited Positions
A position is considered 'new' if it appears in the current filing but not the prior quarter. 'Exited' means it was present before but no longer reported.
YTD Return (estimated)
Estimated year-to-date return based on position weights and publicly available price data. Not guaranteed to match actual fund performance — 13F filings do not include all asset classes.
Insider Transaction Direction
Derived from Form 4 transaction codes. 'Buy' covers open market purchases and exercise of options. 'Sell' covers disposals and sales.
Important disclaimer
13F filings only cover long equity positions above $200,000 or 10,000 shares. Short positions, derivatives, bonds, and cash are not included. Metrics derived from 13F data are estimates only.
